Connect a social account

How account connection works, what each platform needs, and how to recover from common connection issues.

7 min readUpdated 2026-06-14

bbuddy connects social accounts through the official login screen for each platform. You choose the account, approve the requested access, and return to bbuddy with the channel ready to use for drafts, scheduling, and publishing.

Live connection targets

The live dashboard exposes all eight platforms as connection targets: X, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, and Threads. Each connects through its own official login screen and is ready for drafts, scheduling, and publishing once approved.

Accounts screen controls

Open Accounts to connect, reconnect, or disconnect a channel. Connected accounts show their platform, display name, and current status. Use Connect when adding a new channel, Reconnect if a platform asks you to refresh access, and Disconnect when bbuddy should stop using that channel.

X

bbuddy uses user-context OAuth for X. It can publish text and media posts for the connected account. It cannot read DMs, follow accounts, like posts, or change your profile.

LinkedIn

The live LinkedIn flow is for member posting. The requested permissions include identity/profile access and member social posting. LinkedIn Company Page publishing is not documented as a live user-facing flow here.

Facebook, Instagram, and Threads

Meta connections cover Facebook Pages, Instagram Business or Creator accounts, and Threads. For Facebook, pick the Page you want bbuddy to publish to. For Instagram, pick the Business or Creator account shown in the Instagram login flow. Threads connects through the same Meta login so bbuddy can publish to your Threads profile.

If bbuddy says the selected Facebook Page cannot publish, reconnect using a profile that has full control of that Page, then select the Page again in the connection flow.

Connection review and testers

If a platform app is still in review, only approved testers or accounts assigned by the platform may be able to connect. If someone cannot connect during review, check that they accepted the tester invite and that they are using the same platform account that was invited.

Common connection problems

If the login finishes but no account appears in bbuddy, the usual causes are: the wrong platform profile was used, the Page or social account was not selected during login, the account type is not eligible for publishing, or access was revoked on the platform side. Reconnect from Accounts and select the exact Page or profile you want bbuddy to use.

Disconnecting

Open Accounts, choose the connection, and disconnect it. bbuddy stops using that channel immediately. You can also revoke bbuddy from the platform's own connected apps screen.
